Way way back in the early days of the new millenium, Peter Schiff, the president of Euro Pacific Capital Inc., a brokerage firm, was issuing dire warnings about the stock market, the real estate market, the US dollar, and the rotted out shell that is the US economy. It earned him the nickname of Dr. Doom as well as derisive snorts and much eye-rolling from the likes of Neil Cavuto, Ben (the impact of subprime mortgages is tiny, tiny, tiny) Stein, and lots of other clueless and/or lying talking heads and reporters.
