Bravo, Martin Deppe

Five years ago, Martin Deppe wrote this to the New York Times in response to their "Mission Accomplished" coverage.

Some unanswered questions remain: Where are the weapons of mass destruction? What evidence makes Iraq ‘‘an ally of al-Qaeda’’? Where is Saddam Hussein? Where is Osama bin Laden? Who is next?

Of all those questions, there's only one that has been definitively answered: We now know where Saddam Hussein is.

Most rational, casual news-following Americans no longer believe there ever were any WMDs.

Most rational, casual news-following Americans no longer believe that Iraq was ever an ally of al Qaeda.

And wherever Osama bin laden may be, he’s obviously not where we’ve been looking for him.

As to who’s next -- you’re guess is as good as mine.
