Exit strategery by Fredo Feith

A key requirement of war is "not to take the first step without considering the last."

Surely Karl van Clausewitz is weeping in a corner of the Eternal Old Soldiers Home.
Pentagon Rebukes Sen. Clinton on Iraq

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Pentagon told Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton that her questions about how the U.S. plans to eventually withdraw from Iraq boosts enemy propaganda.

In a stinging rebuke to a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Undersecretary of Defense Eric Edelman responded to questions Clinton raised in May in which she urged the Pentagon to start planning now for the withdrawal of American forces.

A copy of Edelman's response, dated July 16, was obtained Thursday by The Associated Press.

``Premature and public discussion of the withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq reinforces enemy propaganda that the United States will abandon its allies in Iraq, much as we are perceived to have done in Vietnam, Lebanon and Somalia,'' Edelman wrote.

And just who is Eric Edelman? Well, here's his official DoD bio, but then there's this much more enlightening real-world assessment of the man from The Next Hurrah.
You see, Edelman is kind of a poor man's Dougie Feith. A total shill--and Cheney asset--though apparently with less flair for propaganda. He's the bright guy who first suggested leaking Plame's identity to rebut Joe Wilson. And, as it turns out, he realized after he suggested to Libby that the information in question may have been classified.
So if Dougie Feith is widely considered to be the fucking stupidest guy on the face of the earth, then Eric Edelman must be the even fuckier most stupidest guy on the face of the earth. And a petulant partisan hack bitch too.
