Freeped out

Is it just my imagination or are the Freepi in need of some puppy uppers? They've really been dragging lately. Terri Schiavo and Jeff Gannon bummed them out. And the falafel man. And Iraq just isn't as much fun as it used to be, although they did get momentarily juiced up about the "treasonous" Newsweek. Except for a few diehards who view Social Security as socialism, most Freepi seemed to have lost interest in the Bush bamboozapalooza as well.

And now just as the countdown clock is ready to begin, they seem to be completely filibusted. There were just three responses to an article on the fristing of the Senate, and I don't think the responses are anything that Frist can base a presidential campaign on.
Drama on the Hill: Americans shrug
Christian Science Monitor | 5/23/05 | Amanda Paulson

In Washington, the showdown is looming. Republicans and Democrats are filling their PR arsenals and spinning the news before it occurs, trying to liven up arcane subjects like cloture and calling their opponents names that range from Hitler to Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, the latest Star Wars villain.

Inside the Beltway, it's shaping up to be the Great Filibuster Battle of 2005. The rest of America, however, seems to be giving the face-off a collective yawn. Many voters don't even know it's occurring, and many of those who do, don't care - or, worse, see it as more proof that Congress is wrapped up in its own partisan bickering when it should be dealing with issues that matter.

It's the numbers that matter: 15,000,000 illegals and counting, a debt approaching 10,000,000,000,000 fiat dollars, etc. Yes, judges are important...but wasn't it the Second Coming when the Republicans took control of the White House and both houses of Congress?

The real problem in this nation is NOT illegal immigration...it is STEROID USE IN PROFESSIONAL SPORTS! Right? Riiiight.

Its a political insiders' baseball game. Most people don't give a damn about arcane Senate rules. What they do is that Senators aren't working to get the business of the country done. And they aren't exactly warmed up by the political antics of Washington's eternal children.

My, my, my. Time for Bush to zip into his flightsuit again.
