Corporation tosses hat in ring

A Maryland public relations firm, citing the recent Supreme Court ruling that allows corporations to be treated as people in making political contributions, is now seeking to represent Maryland’s 8th Congressional district.

In a press release announcing its candidacy, the company, Murray Hill, Inc., explained:
Thanks to an enlightened supreme court, corporations now have all the rights the founding fathers meant for us. It was their dream to build the best democracy money can buy. The strength of America is in the boardrooms, country clubs and Lear jets of America’s great corporations. We’re saying to Wal-Mart, AIG and Pfizer, if not you, who? If not now, when?
The company promises to run a campaign that "puts people second, or even third,” which might actually move the average voter up several slots.

Letting corporations run for office sure saves a lot by cutting out all the middlemen, flunkies, toadies, and lobbyists.
