Adhesive-backed hate

This seemingly innocent bumpersticker (available from CafePress) has been stirring up chatter on wingnut sites. Here’s the psalm in its entirety.

Here are the lines the wingnuts say they are joking about:

8 May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.

And here are the lines that immediately follow:

9 May his children be fatherless
and his wife a widow.

That can be taken more than one way--if one stretches, it could be said to be referencing Obama as the innocent set upon by doers of evil deeds--but as it is, 'pray for Obama using this psalm'--it's pretty damning.

As usual, the religious right either doesn't think this crap through, or really thought they'd get away with urging a nation to ask their Deity of Choice for what amounts to a death sentence and historical erasure.

Way to go, folks. Really. Because America wasn't looking bad enough yet.

I like the implication that those of us who are not of the sky-god persuasion are incapable [don't own a bible? Every athiest I know has at least one], unwilling [don't know how to use teh googles?], or lazy to look up their, super-hip, obscure reference, literally cited chapter and verse. We'll never figure that one out, they got us there.
