American scientist Ray Kurzweil believes humans could become immortal in as little as 20 years' time -- or long before anyone finally figures out just why Bush and Cheney decided to invade Iraq.
Human immortality will be achieved through nanotechnology and an increased understanding of how the body works, and it will definitely not be included under your current HMO plan as your present mortal state is a preexisting condition.
Mr Kurzweil calls his theory the Law of Accelerating Returns. Writing in The Sun, Mr Kurzweil said: "I and many other scientists now believe that in around 20 years we will have the means to reprogramme our bodies' stone-age software so we can halt, then reverse, ageing. Then nanotechnology will let us live forever.”Don’t worry about trying to fill all that extra leisure time with today’s laughable cable programming and clunky computer games. We’ll all be having virtual sex!
"If we want to go into virtual-reality mode, nanobots will shut down brain signals and take us wherever we want to go. Virtual sex will become commonplace. And in our daily lives, hologram like figures will pop in our brain to explain what is happening.”Sounds good, unless the hologram-like figure that keeps popping into your brain to explain all the action is a nano-Glenn Beck.

That's something very scary to think about Grace. The thing is that we had better figure out a good FTL drive before this happens or we will be living in people up to our necks unless we go into warehouse mode and just live in a virtual world ala the Matrix.
So this is what I have to look forward to in a couple of decades, robot sex?
