Titty-twisting the night away

Keith Olbermann went one joke(?) over the line sweet Jesus in his post-Pennsylvania primary coverage -- and both he and MSNBC have now issued apologies.

Good. Two down and all the rest of them to go.

Olbermann’s miscalculation took him a little too far down the death to Hillary path in his the-day-after-the-night-before discussions with Howard Fineman.
HOWARD FINEMAN: What this is going to require, at some point, all of [Chuck Todd’s] excellent numbers aside, there‘s some adults somewhere in the Democratic Party to step in and stop this thing like a referee in a fight that could go on for 30 rounds. That‘s what‘s going on. Those are the super-super-superdelegates who are going to have to really decide this.
OLBERMANN: Right. The one—somebody who can take her in a room and only he comes out that kind of a question.
FINEMAN: Yes, exactly.
Yes, exactly. Won’t somebody just kill the bitch already?!

I’m going to take an extremely wide and generous view of this: fuck Olbermann, fuck MSNBC, fuck CNN, fuck FOX, fuck the New York Times, fuck the Washington Post, fuck the LA Times, fuck’em all.

And yes, exactly, Howard Fineman, fuck Newsweek too.

Fuck’em all for the appalling throat-slashing, knee-balling, blood-sucking, windpipe-crushing, skull-smashing, ball-gagging, sucker-punching, gonad-macerating, titty-twisting imagery that has replaced actual substance in our political discourse.

Amazing, isn’t it, that there is more implied violence in the coverage of the three basically decent human beings who are seeking the presidency than in the coverage of the actual violence being inflicted upon Iraqis, Afghanis, and the poor bastards in Gitmo and CIA ghost prisons.

Enough.

Except that today is Sunday, a day of rest and worship for most Christians. It also means that Maureen Dowd has cranked out yet another column -- if by “column” you mean the disjointed yet always predictable stringing together of unrelated high-, middle-, and low-brow cultural references until a minimum word count is reached. And Dowd gives us a very special Sabbath column. Today, Hillary Clinton is a vampire/succubus.

Can you guess whose precious bodily fluids Hillary is draining? Whose magic she is leeching? Whose aura she is siphoning off?

Come on, you know you can.
