Karmic cesspools of porn

Remember when Mitt Romney implied a cause-and-effect between pornography and the Virginia Tech shootings?
"Pornography and violence poison our music and movies and TV and video games," Romney said May 5 during a commencement address at Regent University, the evangelical Christian school run by Christian Coalition founder Pat Robertson.
"The Virginia Tech shooter, like the Columbine shooters before him, had drunk from this cesspool."
Sorry, gagging a little at the metaphor.

Well, it seems it was all a sham, just cover for Romney's pornified past. As exposed by some of the nation's leading anti-pornography crusaders, Romney not only made money from pornography, he actually worked for "a major pornographer."

In some parts of the country -- and you know who you are and where you live -- this could improve Romney's poll numbers. But before you start to overlook his past acts of animal cruelty and think the Mittster might be cool after all, read on.

The "major pornographer" is Marriott International, which offers R-rated and unrated pay-per-view movies in its hotels. And despite his buff bod, Romney's job was to sit, fully clothed and zipped up, on the Marriott board from 1992 to 2001.

Nonetheless, Citizens for Community Values and other perpetually cranky types question Romney's ability to shed his porno past and faithfully enforce the nation's obscenity laws.
Daniel Weiss, media analyst for James Dobson's "Focus on the Family," said this week in a radio broadcast to Focus members: "If (Romney) made money off pornography in the past, is he going to turn a blind eye to it if he's president? Because as chief executive of the nation, it's his responsibility to make sure our nation's obscenity laws are efficiently and vigorously enforced."
Could this be the creation of a new litmus test for presidential candidates?
