U.S. plans fewer extra troops for Iraq referendum
WASHINGTON, Sept 2 (Reuters)-- The U.S. military has planned a much smaller increase in troop levels in Iraq to provide extra security for the planned October constitutional referendum than it did for January's parliamentary elections, the No. 2 U.S. commander in Iraq said on Friday.
