Still my favorite government website

It's been awhile since I last checked in, so I stopped by strengtheningsocialsecurity.gov to see how the "strengthening" is going. This is some of what I found.

Affirmation of our president's steely reserve
There is still work to do. If fixing Social Security were easy, it would be done already. The President will continue to discuss the need for Social Security reform with the American people, and will continue the discussion of options to ensure that Social Security is there for our children and grandchildren.
The American people elect their leaders to solve problems, not to sweep issues under the rug for future generations…. The President has led on Social Security reform, and he will continue to educate on the issue and press for reform, because he believes our children and grandchildren deserve the opportunity to save for retirement and deserve a Social Security system that is strong and sound.
And greetings from Neidermeyer and Marmalard
Students For Saving Social Security – ‘We don't want a handout. Just give us our money’: "Dozens of college students who support the accounts plan to spend Wednesday afternoon…amid imported snow and ice sculptures in the summer haze hanging over the capital. 'The imagery has multiple meanings,' said Jonathan Swanson, a Yale University senior who co-founded Students for Saving Social Security. 'It can mean, `Our future melting away,' or, `Congress is giving us the cold shoulder,' or, `Congress is freezing us out of the debate,' or anything else catchy you can think of.… We don't want a handout. Just give us our money.’” (Glen Johnson, “Students Plan “Snow Job” To Boost Social Security Private Accounts Campaign,” Associated Press, 7/12/05)
